Episode 165 - Hazel Harrison

Hazel Harrison dreamed of running the Marathon des Sables for decades, and it was a marathon to finally get there.

This week Eugene and Matt get the conversation that they needed (and wanted) from the amazing Hazel Harrison. From an 800m-running army nurse to Marathon des Sables completing ultra runner (5th in her age group!), Hazel’s journey has been incredible. Navigating Covid, surviving cancer, and then actually getting to the race itself are just the beginnings of this epic tale. Hazel had to endure extreme conditions, the death of a fellow competitor, and major insults to her physical system to complete this amazing race. We also run through all the news from Big’s Backyard, a phenomenal Greatest Run Ever and consider changing the name of the podcast to Hair Church Radio because gosh, we need to get to the barbers.
