Episode 218 - Mel Brandon: hanging tough (and getting faster)

Mel Brandon is smiling, holding flowers and wearing four medals from the Rotorua Marathon.

Kia ora e te whānau. This week Eugene has an epic conversation with Mel Brandon. Mel is a runner, WUU2K record holder, and road marathon speedster. This year she has accumulated a bunch of impressive PBs, and has gone from strength to strength. In this conversation we talk about hanging tough when the going gets tough, how she balances training with a busy corporate life working at Wētā Workshop and being a single mum of three, we talk about what running has meant to her at various stages of her life, and of being part of the formidable Wellington Scottish Club. We cover off the New York and Rotorua Marathons, and, of course, do a deep dive on her impressive 6.31.37 record at WUU2K this year. Enjoy.
