Episode 221 - Ben St Lawrence The Boy From Bullaburra

Black and white photo showing Ben running with sunglasses on, wearing his vest and singlet, face looking like he's pushing hard.

Kia ora e te whānau. This week Eugene and Matt have the distinct pleasure of speaking to the legendary Ben St. Lawrence. Ben is one of the greats of Australian distance running, a former Australian record holder of the 10,000 metre distance and Olympic and Commonwealth Games representative for his country. We speak to Ben about his longevity in running, his journey from talented youth, to university party boy, to Olympian. Ben is not shy about the challenges along the way and his struggles with RED-S and what that has taught him.  We break down his most recent victory at the Ultra Trail Australia 50 kilometre race (*spolier alert* EPIC DING-DONG) and discuss his love of coaching, being a co founder of the Sydney based Run Crew. This is an honest, funny, and engaging conversation with an athlete who has continued to search for joy, reflect on the process, and engage in the discipline of this sport we love so much. Enjoy.
