This week on the podcast Eugene and Matt speak to triathlete, ultra runner, podcast host, and nutritionist Dr Mikki Williden. This is Mikki’s second go ‘round on the old DCR and this time we really wanted to get into the weeds about some specific nutrition topics around the silly season, including how do we enjoy ourselves and not go off the rails (too much)? What’s the latest thinking around race nutrition and how does one go about dialling that in? Tips for finding out what works for you, and also a discussion around the topic of RED-S, or Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport. Mikki is encyclopedic (Mikkipedic?) in her knowledge and delivers said knowledge in an engaging and entertaining manner. We also touch on Mikki’s training and preparation for the upcoming Kepler and Tarawera 100km races. Matt gets trapped in a parking garage (not a euphemism) and we run down all the race results, a cracking GRE and discuss our upcoming end of year extravaganza. Enjoy!
