Episode 108 - Damian Hall returns, triumphant
Kia Ora Whanau. This week on the podcast, Eugene talks to returning guest Damian Hall about his Fastest Known Bimble of the 431 km Pennine Way. Damian set out on his meticulously-planned attempt a week after his friend, John Kelly, broke the 31-year-old record of 2 days, 17 hours, and 20 minutes by 40 minutes. Damian lowered the record to 2 days, 13 hours, and 34 seconds. If you’ve heard Damian on Dirt Church Radio (episode 067) you’ll know that he is committed to addressing climate change and limiting the impact that we have on this planet. Damian set out to make his attempt as impact neutral as possible. This is a rip-roarer of a discussion between Eugene and Damian that goes between the attempt itself, climate, Brit-pop, the history of the trail itself and Damian’s history with the trail. As per usual we delve into some news, Stuff You Should Know, the results of the NZ IAU virtual 6-hour event, a Greatest Run Ever and Matt’s Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Enjoy
